The Department of Political Science is a leading academic department located in the heart of the university campus. The Political Science Department was inaugurated at the Sarisha Campus of DHWU in 2016. However, before that, the P.G. Course in Political Science was opened at Fakir Chand College, Diamond Harbour Campus, in July 2014. Recently, in 2022, it started to offer a Bachelor of Arts degree in the undergraduate course. It also offers MPhil/PhD program that prepares students for academia, government, and public service careers. With a distinguished faculty of seven experienced scholars, the department is committed to providing a rigorous and comprehensive education in political science.

1) Professor Raj Kumar Kothari (On Lien to The Sanskrit College and University as Hon’ble Vice Chancellor - teaching experience 20 years plus – PhD Bombay University).
2) Dr Prosenjit Pal (Associate Professor - teaching experience 16 years 9 months) (MA, MPhil, PhD Jadavpur University).
3) Dr Debashish Mitra (Associate Professor & Head with teaching experience of 16 years plus – MA – JNU; PhD – Jadavpur University).
4) Dr Anandita Biswas (teaching experience- 13 years plus) (MA, MPHIL-Calcutta University - PhD Rabindra Bharati University).
5) Mr Saptarshi Mandal (teaching experience 6 years approx. - pursuing PhD from Jadavpur University).
6) Dr Sayantani Sen Mazumdar (Assistant Professor with teaching experience of around 10 years – MA - Jadavpur University PhD –IGNOU).
7) Mr Imran Khan (Assistant Professor teaching for around 2 years).
