Department of Political Science

Brief Introduction of the Department

The Department of Political Science was inaugurated Sarisha Campus of DHWU in 2016. However before that the P.G. Course in Political Science was opened at Fakir Chand College, Diamond Harbour Campus in July 2014.

Presently all the faculties, Dr. Prosenjit Pal (Head; teaching experience 13 yrs. 11 months)(MA, MPhil, PhD –all from Jadavpur University) (Head), Ms Anandita Biswas (teaching experience-8 yrs. approx.) (MA, MPhil-Calcutta University) (Phd thesis submitted at Rabindra Bharati University), Mr Saptarshi Mandal (teaching experience 4 yrs. approx.) (pursuing PhD from Jadavpur University); Dr Arundhati Bhattacharyya (teaching experience 12 yrs. approx.) (MA-JNU, PhD, Calcutta University)(on lien) follow a tradition of keeping pace with the most updated Developments in teaching and research in Public Administration, International Relations, Political Thought and Political Sociology and have publications of repute, to this extent.

Guest Faculties like Prof Maitreyee Bardhan Roy (Ex-Principal, Basanti Devi College, Expert on Women’s Studies), Prof Sibranjan Chatterjee (retired Prof of Pol Sc, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad College, Member, West Bengal College Service Commission), Prof Bimal Sankar Nanda (Faculty, Charuchandra College, and Secretary, West Bengal Political Science Association) are serving in our Department.

  • The Department has organized a Special Lecture on India-Pakistan Relations in 2016.
  • The Department, in Collaboration with the Bengal Institute for Political Studies, has organized a One-Day National Seminar on India in South Asia: Challenges and Opportunities on 22nd November, 2018.
