Physics Department

Brief Introduction of the Department

The Department of Physics started its journey in the year 2015 with 30 students in the first batch from various parts of West Bengal. About 12 resource persons were engaged in teaching. The present intake of students is 60. The department is nourished by young faculty members along with some guest faculties. The department has been offering three Advance papers in the final semester, viz. Electronics, Condensed Matter Physics and Atomic, Molecular & Laser Physics. Choice based Elective subjects are offering in third and fourth semesters, viz. Astrophysics, Quantum field theory, High energy particle physics, Non-linear dynamics, Nuclear physics, Symmetries and nonlinear waves. Apart from regular PG classes, Ph.D program has also been launched from the academic year 2018-19. Faculty members are actively engaged in research and regularly publishing works in international journals of repute. The department also conducts special classes for NET/SET etc. examinations. The students are engaged in different co-curricular activities to enhance their overall educational experience. We aspire to provide an educational system which would build character as well as ensure social upliftment of our students to become worthy citizens of our nation.
